Week Six: Kitchen
Just like McDonald Jones, newcomers Maddy and Charlotte began their renovation journey right here in the Hunter. Despite dramatic exits and supplier delays, the duo created an exquisite contemporary kitchen, earning second place with an impressive score of 29/30.
Featuring oak cabinetry, a stunning quartzite stone island, herringbone flooring, and brushed brass finishes, their design wowed the judges and captured the essence of modern luxury.

Week Five: Main Bedroom
Main bedroom week saw two teams share first place, where the final results were the tightest ever. Contestants had a hard task ahead with each bedroom exceeding 30sqm; triple the size of an average Australian bedroom.
Winners Courtney and Grant wowed the judges with their bold use of leather-look finishes and timber grains, creating a stunning and unique contrast. Their choice of rust, green, and brown hues brought warmth and depth, perfectly complementing the room’s modern aesthetic.
Meanwhile, co-winners Kristian and Mimi impressed with their coastal-inspired main bedroom. Judge Marty described the space as “calming, coastal, and luxurious,” echoing the serene vibe they also achieved in their guest bedroom. The detailed wooden paneling behind the bed added a sophisticated focal point, while textured tapestries, warm-hued bedding, and custom wooden cabinetry combined to create a cozy and inviting retreat.

Week Four: Second Guest Bedroom
Guest Bedroom Week marked a positive shift for many contestants after the challenges of week three. Several couples chose to transform their second guest rooms into vibrant kids' rooms, adding a playful and energetic twist to the competition. Bold colors, whimsical themes, and creative decor made these spaces both fun and functional, perfect for families.
On the other hand, some teams opted for a more refined and sophisticated approach. Drawing inspiration from the stunning coastal surroundings where the houses will be auctioned, these contestants crafted serene and stylish guest rooms. Soft, neutral tones and elegant finishes reflected the relaxed vibe of the location, balancing comfort with coastal charm.

Week Two: Guest Bedroom
Blockheads were thrilled as week two arrived, allowing them to leave their tent city and settle into their newly renovated guest bedrooms. Kristian and Mimi claimed victory once again, with their room being praised as resembling a "boutique beach hotel." The standout feature of their space was the coastal-inspired wooden paneling, adding a touch of natural warmth and elegance to the room.
At McDonald Jones, we believe that the finer details make the biggest difference, complementing the overall architectural vision of each brand-new home design. Week One: Guest Bathroom
During week one of The Block Season 20, contestants dove headfirst into the world of plumbing. Judges were looking for "Instagram-worthy" bathrooms that would bring flair to future holiday homes. Each couple put their own spin on the challenge, from baby blue tiles paired with brass fixtures to the buzzworthy black bathroom. The designs led to both triumphs and missteps, setting the standard for an exciting season ahead.
Week one saw a noticeable return to embracing colour and texture in bathrooms. Ditching the traditional approach of matching hardware, homeowners are actively looking to incorporate bursts of colour and tactile elements into their spaces. Winners of the guest bathroom, Mimi and Kristian, did just that by incorporating Reece Bathroom brushed brass and bronze finishes into their bathroom.
