As a local builder with deep roots in the Hunter region, McDonald Jones Homes was proud to attend the launch of Lake Macquarie Marine Rescue’s newest rescue vessel — a crucial asset that will help keep our waterways safer for everyone.

On 16th November a crowd of more than 7,000 NRL fans turned out to watch some of Rugby Leagues biggest names battle it out at the Legends of League tournament, held for the first time at McDonald Jones Stadium. Thanks to support from the NSW Government, NRL, Mark Hughes Foundation and McDonald Jones Homes; this year’s Legends of League event became a bushfire fundraiser to support the victims of the recent bushfires across the country.

We are proud to announce we will be matching the funds raised on Saturday at the Legends of League game to support the Salvation Army's bushfire recovery efforts.

After successfully completing the Kokoda Trail in 2016, Mark Hughes’ friends and former Newcastle Knights teammates decided to take their quest to tackle brain cancer to new heights. 28 volunteers from the Mark Hughes Foundation (MHF), including 10 former Knights players, spent 9 days climbing to Everest Base Camp to fundraise for brain cancer research, with the goal of raising enough money to fund a brain cancer research specialist...

McDonald Jones look out for future generations by doing more than just building safe and comfortable homes for parents to share with children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren. In 2016, the MJH Charitable Foundation launched a three-year scholarship scheme to assist two PhD students complete their thesis and practical work at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute.

May marked more than one event to help fundraise for cancer research, inspiring our staff to host several Biggest Morning Tea’s along the east coast and get involved in the Mark Hughes Foundation’s Beanie for Brain Cancer campaign.

From helping to save the lives of kids with cancer to supporting critical research that could stop a disease that inevitably leads to blindness, McDonald Jones is stepping up our contribution to the families in need across our building footprint.

Heart-warming doesn’t begin to describe the moment that our home for Children’s Cancer Institute was completed and revealed for the first time to families facing childhood cancer.
