Brrrrr….can you feel that? Winter is just around the corner and you know what that means! It is time to start thinking about how you can give your home a warm and cosy facelift in time for the cooler season.

These four paint colours are a great guide on choosing a colour palette to bring into your home for the winter season. Whether introduced through your accessories or by giving a fresh lick of paint to your walls or some of your furnishings (you could even purchase some from the local op shop and give them a fresh look), these colours will leave you feeling toasty warm, just in time for winter.

Don’t forget, when introducing new colours into your home first think about all your finishes and current furniture and decor to make sure what you choose fits your style. In addition, if you decide to repaint furniture or a wall, always buy a sample pot of paint first to test on the space before committing to painting the whole thing.

  1. Purple perfection
Hues of purple are set to take centre stage this winter. Look for shades that feel warm, inviting and can create depth in your home. Our tip is to use purple tones in your accessories in an area of your home that is all about relaxation, such as your master suite, to create a sense of calm. Or you can take the opposite approach and make a bold statement by introducing this colour on a feature wall or feature piece of furniture.

  2. Brave blues and generous greens
Shades of blue and hints of moody greens are a favourite because of their beautiful connection to the world around us. These classic colours are very versatile and can easily feature in your home all year round; however, green and blue tones are perfect for winter because they help that sensation of indoor/outdoor living linger even though it’s cooler outside. Set to make your home feel balanced and harmonious, use these colours through your accessories in your central living spaces for full impact, such as your home theatre and dining/living space.

  3. Navy and bold blacks
Black and navy do not often get the appropriate recognition they deserve. While using these tones can seem bold and intimidating, they can make a stunning statement when used in the correct way. Black and navies have the capacity to bring warmth and a sense of earthiness to your home. Start by introducing these colours in little ways, such as through your bathroom accessories or décor in your home theatre.

  4. Yellows and crafty creams
Show-stopping yellows and delightful creams are set to make a return this winter and are a perfect way to make your home feel cheery and inspiring, even through the sometimes grey winter months. Try bringing bursts of yellow and beautiful creams into the furnishings and décor in the spaces where your family loves to gather, such as in your kitchen. This will leave everyone feeling bright and happy throughout the day.
