What does a day in your shoes look like?
Every day at the Hunter MyChoice Design Studio is different, which is what I love about my role. I have three great consultants on my team who are there to solve problems for our home-buyers. We understand that every project, every home, and every home-buyer is unique and we guide our customers in making decisions and support them through their MyChoice journey by keeping them aware of how each decision will affect the house.
What services does MyChoice offer customers of McDonald Jones?
At the MyChoice Studio our expert stylists help our customers design a home that is a true reflection of who they are. There are three appointments that we take each customer through; the first is a one hour pre-selection appointment conducted by one of our interior designers. This session explains all the inclusions for the home.
The second appointment is the fun one. It’s a full 4-6 hour colour appointment where all the exterior and interior finishes are specified for their new home.
Lastly, we take our customers through an electrical appointment with our specialists to determine power point locations, light fittings and switches.
This process breaks it down into easy blocks of time for the client and, given it’s all in one place, there’s no more running around everywhere choosing colours, samples and pieces. It’s all about making the process as simple as possible.
Is guiding customers on their personal style tricky?
Listening is our forte – during an appointment we are able to get a good picture of what our customers need and their budget should they wish to upgrade any element. This helps us to guide them through the selection process and discover their personal style. The end result is where we really see the wow factor in what they have put together.
How do you stay on trend each season?
Everyone in the MyChoice team is passionate about what they do and works collaboratively to share design inspiration. We are constantly exploring and researching the latest trends, from visiting trade shows for inspiration to keeping on top of international design movements, we love getting the inside news on new developments. Additionally, because of the close relationship that McDonald Jones has with our suppliers, we regularly receive updates on new concepts that are perfect for our customer’s needs.
What changes have you seen during your time at McDonald Jones?
My time here has flown by. To see the MyChoice Showroom grow so much has been wonderful. We’ve expanded what we can offer and the experience for the clients is first class. Our clients genuinely find the process an exciting experience, and it’s great to be part of that.
The best part of your job?
I get paid to do what I love and have the opportunity to share that passion with my team and the clients that visit the MyChoice Studio. Seeing customers becoming inspired and falling in love with their choices before they have even moved into their home is a great feeling.
