The modern, architecturally designed Bordeaux Executive, a design by pre-eminent leaders in new home building, McDonald Jones Homes, has won the hearts of Daily Telegraph readers in this year’s Daily Telegraph Home Magazine Readers Choice Awards.

The company walked away from the 2014 HIA-CSR NSW Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards with two different accolades for the Bordeaux Executive design, including the notable Readers Choice Award.

McDonald Jones were also awarded the HIA NSW Display Home $200,001 - $250,000 partnered by Beacon Lighting for the popular design which is on display at Twin Waters Display Homes located in South Nowra.

According to judges of the awards, the Bordeaux Executive offered families good value and a contemporary, highly functional floor plan.

“This home is open planned living demonstrating an excellent layout throughout. The design delivers a really open living functional layout. The way the display home was exhibited gave you a very clean view of how the home would function. This is a good value display home for this category”.

The company was also awarded the HIA NSW Work Health & Safety Award partnered by Workcover NSW, an award that recognises McDonald Jones commitment and demonstration of workplace safety across the business.

“McDonald Jones Homes are a company that has excellent WH&S Management plans, including all forms, templates and processes. They have a first class work site assessment and hazard identification process which illustrates why they should win this award,” judges said.

Congratulating McDonald Jones Homes on such an outstanding achievement, HIA’s NSW Executive Director, David Bare, said the awards were a tremendous display of the housing industry’s capacity and innovation.

“It is encouraging to see that HIA’s builders and designers have maintained their commitment to excellence. The high standard of entries shows that support for these judges has yet again been remarkable. Each year the bar is raised higher making the judging process all the more difficult.

“Major winners tonight can look forward to progressing to HIA’s national awards next year and we wish them every success.”

McDonald Jones Director of Sales, Phil Haigh, said that awards aren’t really what the company are all about, but it was rewarding to know that their customers and leaders in the industry were recognising the quality of their new homes and customer experience.

“At McDonald Jones Homes, we are in the business of realising people’s dreams. There is nothing more important to us then guiding our customers along the journey to their dream home and building a place that they can be proud of for years to come and can share memories in,” Phil said.

The awards were held in front of a sell-out audience at The Star. Special guests included HIA’s National Treasurer, Terry Jenkins and HIA’s NSW Vice President, Cathy Inglis.

The MC for the evening was comedian, writer, television presenter and actor Julia Zemiro.

The Association’s showcase awards night recognises excellence in housing innovation, material selection, design, construction and services to the NSW residential building industry.

The Housing Industry Association (HIA) is the leading industry association in the Australian residential building sector, supporting the businesses and interests of builders, contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, building professionals and business partners.
