Knock Down Rebuild Process

1. Planning and Preparation

Once you’ve met with one of our Building and Design Consultants, and have decided on your favourite McDonald Jones design, a member of our team will visit your site to check the suitability and any restrictions that may apply to your block, road and site access, plus also assess traffic control considerations and check local planning requirements.

2. Knock Down Rebuild Tender

Our team will present you with a complete quotation to give you clarity and confidence to take the next step towards your dream home.

When you decide to proceed with an initial acceptance fee, you secure your tender price for 12months and we will then order soil, services and engineering reports for your block.

3. New Home Drawings, Selections & Planning

Once your reports are received, your final plans are drawn. These are based on the compressive land reports for your block, and then an accurate all-inclusive tender is prepared and presented to you.

You’ll meet with our team of interior designers in the MyChoice Design Studio, to decide on the colour selections, features and finishes throughout your home and put your personal stamp on the final design. Then we'll draw up your detailed plans for your dream home.

We'll help you work through the necessary paperwork required, whilst preparing our own and providing you with your contract. Once signed, you will pay the deposit and we will be on our way to knocking down and rebuilding your new dream home!

During this stage, we submit all the required paperwork to the council for approval, to get everything ready to commence construction of your new home.

Knock Down Rebuild Construction

Now the real excitement – the demolition of your old home and the official start of building your new home! We will work closely with you to determine the best timings for demolition with your chosen demolition company on your site.

Your site will be prepared, fenced, and the first big construction milestone - your slab will go down, so you will be able to see the footprint of your new home!

Your Site Manager will keep you informed throughout the whole process, answering any questions you may have along the way.

You will also have access to the MyHome Customer Portal where you will get photos and updates throughout each of the building stages, plus find information and FAQ’s along with your documentation.

Once your new home is complete, we will arrange a handover appointment, where we conduct a walk-through inspection with an independent handover specialist and then hand over the keys to your new home!

After four weeks in your new home, our Service and Warranty team will provide you with a Practical Completion Inspection list, this is to make sure everything is as it should be in your new home.
