May marked more than one event to help fundraise for cancer research, inspiring our staff to host several Biggest Morning Tea’s along the east coast and get involved in the Mark Hughes Foundation’s Beanie for Brain Cancer campaign.

Our offices from Sydney to Newcastle to the South Coast nominated their team's head chef to create a master piece to share at their Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea. There was a scrumptious array of foods which encouraged the teams to pull out their pocket change and collect over $1150.

With 1 in 2 Australian’s being diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85, the money raised will be able to support the Cancer Council’s ground-breaking research into new and better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, with the potential to save thousands of lives.

Similarly, the Mark Hughes Foundation also contributes money to cancer research, specifically brain cancer which kills more children than any other disease.

Leading up to the Beanie for Brain Cancer Week 2017 (19 – 23 June), our McDonald Jones staff spread the word by handing out beanies around the office. They handed out 120 beanies to raise funds and awareness of brain cancer and the Mark Hughes Foundation.

The Beanie for Brain Cancer campaign was launched by the Mark Hughes Foundation in 2014 and has been growing ever since. The funds raised during the 2017 campaign will be used to fund a 3 year Research Fellowship into brain cancer research. This fellowship will enable a doctor to focus and dedicate their time to brain cancer research, collaborating with researchers in laboratories, conducting clinical trials and caring for their own cancer patients.

If you’d like to show your support, start a conversation about cancer today or donate to the Cancer Council or the Mark Hughes Foundation.
